Unzip the drum kit first.
Most drum kits download as ZIP files. Extract the folder before opening it in FL Studio so the samples can load normally and stay organized.
Put the kit somewhere permanent.
Do not leave your drum kit in Downloads if you plan to use it in real projects. Move it into a producer folder like Samples, Drum Kits, or FL Studio Kits before adding it to FL Studio.
Add the folder to the Browser.
Image-Line says FL Studio can add folders to the Browser by dragging a folder from your operating system into the FL Studio Browser, or by using File options and Browser extra search folders.
Once the folder is added, FL Studio can show the drum kit and search its subfolders from the Browser.
- Open FL Studio.
- Open the Browser.
- Drag your drum kit folder into the Browser, or go to Options > File settings.
- Add the kit under Browser extra search folders.
- Restart or refresh if the folder does not appear right away.
Do not add your whole hard drive.
Add the specific parent folder where your kits live. Adding the root of a whole drive can slow down project loading because FL Studio may need to search too much unnecessary content.
